What a great day to be in NinetySix today! The dedication and open house opened at 2 PM this afternoon in the high school gymnasium. Well over 700 people attended the ceremony. Col. Wallace A. Hall presented to both schools a US flag that was flown in Afghanistan on his latest deployment. Several others had remarks to present including rising sixth-grader Lennox Adams as well as rising senior Jackie McCarthy. These remarks by the students were outstanding .
The ceremony was opened by NinetySix high school principal Rex Ward and closed by Edgewood middle school principal Kelly Fisher. Other speakers included Sam Corley ,chairman of the Board of Trustees, Rhonda McDowell assistant superintendent for instruction, and former superintendent Dan Powell. Katie Lawrence , chorus teacher at the complex, sang a beautiful National Anthem. Closing the ceremony was music of the Alma Mater by the Wildcat marching band directed by David Vickery. Thanks also goes to the middle school and high school cheerleaders who served as direction and information agents during the tours.
